How to overcome the spirit of Jezebel?

# Morningmeditation

We have come to a time where the spirit of Jezebel has raised up against the church. I believe that when prophets are being raised, the kingdom is being prepared because prophets are mentors of the kingdom. When the prophets are awakening, taking authority, and teaching people the kingdom’s secrets, is when this spirit gets uncomfortable and starts showing her face. But who is Jezebel?

In the book of Kings, we can find the story of Jezebel. She was the daughter of the king of Sidon and priestess of Baal and Asherah (1 Kings 16:31; 1 Kings 1:18). Jezebel was a fervent worshipper of Baal. She was strong and did what she wanted for her husband.

Jezebel killed all the prophets of Jehovah (1Kings 18: 4-13) and set out to kill the prophet Elijah (1Kings 19: 1-2). She promoted the murder of a peasant named Naboth to get his vineyard for her husband (1Kings 21: 16-22).

We can see that the spirit of Jezebel likes to control and dominate others. She doesn’t submit to anyone, is rebellious, proud, haughty and she feels superior to the other people. Jezebel tries to push for authority in the church but no authority in the kingdom. Jezebel gives you a front row seat, calls you to the prophetic office, but she makes sure that your voice carries no weight in the realm of the spirit. Her main task is to remove you from your assignment. She hates the prophetic and goes against anyone trying to bring the prophetic. The bible says she called herself a prophetess, that she had given herself that position.

I believe that there are two types of people being influenced by this spirit, first the tolerators and second the perpetrators. But today we will focus on the tolerators. Who are they?

''So, Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah to say, “May the gods deal with me, be it ever so severely, if by this time tomorrow I do not make your life like that of one of them.” Elijah was afraid and ran for his life. When he came to Beersheba in Judah, he left his servant there, while he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness. - 1 Kings 19:3-4

Elijah, after defeating 450 false prophets , was scared and fled to the wilderness after Jezebel’s death threat. How could such an anointed prophet tolerate Jezebel? This strong, and determined prophet decided to hide and also he desired to die. So here we have a few ways of knowing if you are under Jezebel's influence:

1: God gave you an assignment, maybe to go somewhere, confront someone or speak to someone, but you were too scared and decided to hide.

2: You lost your faith and your perspective that God will fight for you.

3: You isolate yourself. Isolation sometimes is good to look for God but in this case you disconnect from God, you feel lonely, defeated and lack confidence.

4: Now you feel fear, depressed, oppressed, discouraged, have anxiety and possibly suicidal thoughts.

But how do we overcome this?

1: First of all you must repent. Repent for turning away from your assignment and your responsibility. By doing this, you will have your authority back.

2: Start exercising your faith again. Allow The Holy Spirit to take control over your situation.

3: Take authority over the spirit of Jezebel. Don’t wait for any anointed prophet to come and put hands on you. The same Holy Spirit that lives in that person lives in you. You have the authority and the power to blind, rebuke and confuse that spirit.

4: Start doing what God told you to do.

If you have been isolated for too long, I encourage you today to arise and embrace God's calling and assignment for your life. Get out of that cave and be what God has called you to do. Elijah ran in fear but he also found courage through God. If you want authority and power you need to get rid of your ''but''. You  need to ''kill or be killed''.

I believe that God is raising prophets and prophetic people that are not scared of Jezebel. People that are willing to confront her and bring change to the church. Do you want to be part of that change or do you want to be stuck in that cave?

If you want to know who the perpetrators are, you can't miss the next blog post!
